Spill Response Workshop
This specialized workshop, developed in partnership with a National Spill Response organization, provides both theoretical and practical training for managing hazardous spills. The course is product-specific and includes a hands-on emergency spill drill to reinforce key concepts and procedures.
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, learners will have a clear understanding of the following:
1. Initial Actions in a Spill Situation: Understanding what needs to be done immediately after a spill is detected.
2. Identification of Hazards: Recognizing the type of spill and associated hazards.
3. Getting Help: Knowing when and how to seek external support.
4. Hazard Assessment: Identifying and evaluating the risks posed by the spill.
5. Alert and Evacuate: Properly alerting personnel and ensuring safe evacuation.
6. Securing the Area: Establishing boundaries to prevent further contamination and ensuring safety.
7. Plan of Action: Developing a strategy to contain and clean the spill effectively.
8. Decontamination and First Aid: Understanding how to manage contamination and provide first aid if necessary.
9. Containment and Clean-Up: Practical techniques for containing and safely cleaning the spill.
10. Investigation and Evaluation: Conducting post-incident analysis to determine causes and improvements.

• Product Identification: Understanding different types of spill products and their unique hazards.
• Hazards: Identifying the risks posed by various substances involved in spills.
• PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Proper PPE selection based on the spill type.
