Breathing Apparatus

This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively use a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) during occupational health and safety assignments and emergency situations.

                 Workers in oxygen-reduced environments or confined spaces

                 Fire watch/standby personnel

Course Outcomes

By the end of the course, learners will:

1.                Understand the body's reaction to SCBA and the importance of oxygen to health.

2.                Recognize the protective benefits of using SCBA in the workplace.

3.                Identify various types and parts of breathing apparatus.

4.                Determine the work duration of SCBA equipment.

5.                Follow safety precautions and procedures for donning and using SCBA.

6.                Differentiate between donning methods for breathing apparatus.

7.                Execute emergency procedures while using SCBA.
